It is with regret that I must inform you that my father, John Guastavino, passed away on Father's Day, June 18, 2006.  He was really looking forward to his 80th birthday this September 13th.  Although he was not planning to attend the September Navy Reunion in Chicago because of a conflict with his 80th birthday party, he was looking forward to the Navy reunion in Las Vegas next year.  My father became ill in March with bronchitis, then in May his conjestive heart failure started acting up again.  Fortunately, my father was able to spend the last six weeks of his life at his home in Pennsylvania. He died of Conjestive Heart Failure on June 18th at the Berwick Hospital in Berwick, Pennsylvania. Attached is a scanned image of his obituary.

The DVD you mention in the email below, does it include the portion of the ceremony where my father received his Cold War medal?  Regardless, I would like to order a DVD for $35.  Please let me know who to send a check to for the DVD.

I will always cherish the memories of my father and how happy he was to attend the Navy reunions.  I have great pictures from the Navy reunions. We all miss my Dad dearly. This has been especially hard for me since he lived with us for the past ten years.

If you have email addresses of the other USS Robert L. Wilson Association members, please pass this information along.

Sincerely,

Kathy (Guastavino) Tutwiler

Fred was a retired CPO and a dedicated member of the USS Robert L Wilson Association.  He was a real patriot and a good friend.  Barbara and I were honored to have known him and to have visited him in his home. I will miss talking with Fred at the reunions.  God bless him.

Subject: Robert Arndt............. Dearest friends, I am saddened to inform everyone that Mr Arndt passed away on the evening of 080704. He was at home with his family, where he enjoyed spending time. During his last days, he spoke of his times in the Navy and the Fire service; telling great stories of friends, who he considered family. Rest assured that these stories will be passed on so that they are not forgotten. Cards are welcome; however a scholarship is being set up in his name for the fire academy. When this is accomplished, donations will be accepted for that scholarship. I will let everyone know when the services are and the location.....Thank you for everything, kind thoughts and prayers.....The Arndt family
