Skullman's Damon Ultrasport {:{}

The Purple Beast

Or "The Behemoth" as I sometimes call Her. Here She is just before I purchased Her. 1996 Damon Ultrasport 3470 on a F53 Ford Chassis with a 460. I found Her east of Seattle, just outside of Unumclaw just wanting to get out of all that Rain and into the Sunshine in Cali ! She had just a little over 16k miles on Her when I bought Her, I've added a few more. The Gentleman that had Her before me used Her on a semi regular basis, short trips to his favorite fishing hole with his buddy. The first time I saw Her it was Raining so hard you could hardly see 3 cars ahead on the Hiway, reminded me of the Southern Oregon Coast and why I don't want to live in that kind of Rain again! One thing is for sure, She sure got the test for Leaks, Not a single one! {:{}

Floorplan

Check this Floorplan out, Very Livable! With the Slide Out it's Really roomy. My Bro Mikey's Mom gave me a little Black Lacquer End Table that fits in just right, I've been trying to talk her out of the matching tables that go with it. I've fallen asleep on the couch a couple times, says a little something about it's comfort. The couch is a hide a bed, I tried it and it's just not made for Bigger Guys like me, 2 nights top! Will find out real soon how the Goils like it!? Update - The Goils Like it Just Fine! My Brother Greg has hit the road with me and has never complained even so, I'm looking to replace the OEM Mattress with a Memory Foam or Air Mattress. {:{}

Here's a recent shot of my "Yurt" after She's had a Good Bath as She just came off the Ranch. I'm continuing repairs, upgrades and additions. I built one of those Low Boy Satellite Stands, it works great, just throw it out and you're good to go! I can catch the news or watch a ball game while I'm working on her! Check pics of the Satellite Stand on page 2. {:{}

The Rig is Pretty Clean save for a couple scratches down the side on the rear. I don't know what the previous owner was thinking when his spotter said "Keep Coming Back" it's like "What were you thinking!? OK, here's the scenario; Just keep coming back, No No, it's OK it's just a little scratch, No one will notice just keep coming back!? Boy, Some Folks!? She's got the full Gel Coat so once She's buffed out She'll be lookin' Sweet. Notice the Enclosed Awning. The Basement Storage bin just left of the entrance door holds a Pull Out Table and Entertainment Center with a Am/Fm Cass, 12v & 110v plug in, Cable & Phone Outlets. I aquired a 15" Widescreen LCD TV for Outdoor Entertainment and Boondocking (lower power consumption). Oh yeah, Power steps too! Lots of Fun going down the Road! {:{}

This recent pic gives you a clear view of the PURPLE!!!! Will I ever become One With The Color? I Really Just Don't Know! *UPDATE* Damon Faxed over the Color Codes for the Rig, it's Not Purple or Lilac or Magenta or Lavender.... She's actually "DUSTY ORCHID" Can it get any Worse!? Should I just end it all right here and now? OH, the Humanity.........
Here you can see the white rectangle latches that the previous owner had installed. He had problems with the spring bars and rod holders for the basement doors and felt it was easier to install aftermarket latches then to repair and reinforce the OEM equipment. Though they work real well, they do distract from the clean lines of the Rig. I'm considering Dyeing the latches either purple or black so they won't stand out so much? If you look real hard at the back of the Rig you can see the scratches I previously spoke of, there on the rear bumper.

Purple Purple Purple ~ I'm still trying to get used to it. With the slide out it's Very Livable, wide open expanses! There's an awning over the slide. Set up is real easy with the HWH Hydraulic Levelers. She looks smart with the Stainless Wheel Simulators & New Tires all the way around! I really like all the Basement Storage and that Big Garage Bin in the back! Again you can see the scratches on the rear bumper. {:{}

Back when I had Her at the House temporarily it made it convienent with the repairs and such. I accomplished quite a bit in that short time. Plus I was able to familiarize myself with all the components and become comfortable with them all before the maiden voyage. I'm close to having all the repairs done, then I'll focus on upgrades, creature comforts and such. I will be thinking hard on solar and battery setup which will have to be addressed pretty quick. ~ Update ~ New Large Deep Cycles Batteries were installed, I wanted to go with 4 6-volt golf carts but the battery box will need major modifications so this will do for now. A New Iota 55 amp Converter Charger has been purchased, once installed the batteries will be able to charge fully in less than 2 hours. Great for Boon Docking! {:{}

Check out all that space! Barrel Chair w/fold out table. Captians chairs swivel to be part of living room. 19" TV is more than adequate and works well with the WebTV. Lots of Overhead Storage. I really like the Low Dog House. Yeah, that's my Cane! That's what you end up with when you Rid to Hard to Long and come in Contact with the Pavement, Stationary and Moving Objects!!! The Sleeper Sofa pulls out to Sleep Two, I am considering Memory Foam or Air Matteress. As you can see there is a bit of dirt tracked on the Carpet, a good cleaning. The Girls were thinking a Big Bean Bag Chair might be cool or maybe a couple Big Pillows to kick back on the floor and watch movies!? {:{}

Excuse the tools and such! As you can see it's very livable, you can really strech out. I'm still getting used to driving with the slide in, it just seems wierd with a wall behind you. Folks always have a Funky Look their first time in the Rig with the slide in. I thought it would be strange with a wall behind me going down the road but once I opened the window and screen behind me, it was just fine. I didn't think I was going to like the Day/Night Blinds I've always been a Mini Blind Fan but these things really work and they make No Noise going down the road like the miniblinds do! For all the Purple outside She has some Manly Colors inside! I Like it! She's really rubbing off on me! {:{}
