A Eulogy On The Dog

    Gentlemen Of The Jury;

    The best friend a man has in this world may turn againest him, and become his enemy. His daughter, and son that he has reared with loving care may become ungrateful. Those that are nearest and dearest to us, those whom we trust with our happiness, and our good name, may become tratiors to their faith. The money that a man has he may lose. It fies away from him when he may need it most.

    Man's reputation may be sacrificed in a moment of ill considred action.The people who are prone to fall to their knees, and do us honor when sucess is with us may be the first to throw the stone of malice when failure settles it's cloud upon our heads. The absolutely unselfish friend a man may have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous, is his dog.

    A man's dog stands by him in prosperity, and poverty in health and in sickness. He will sleep on the cold ground, when wintry wind blow, and the snow drives fiercely, if only may be by his master's side. He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer, he will lick the wounds, and sores that come in encounter with the roughness of the world. He guards the sleep of his pauper master as if he were a prince.

    When all other friends desert, he remains. When riches take wings, and reputation falls to pieces he is as constant in his love as the sun in it's journey through the heavens.If fortune drives the master forth an outcast into the world, friendless, and homeless, the faithful dog asks no higher privlege than that of accompanying him, to guard againest danger, to fight against his enemies.

    When the last scene comes, and death takes his master in it's embrace, and his body is laid in the cold ground, no matter if all other friends pursue their way, there by his grave side will the noble dog be found, his head between his paws, and his eyes sad, but open in alert watchfullness, faithful, and true even to death.

    A large part of our pets are very fortunate indeed....they live in homes where they are loved, wanted, fed good, taken to the Veterinarian on a regular basis, and some even share our bed.

    Then there are those pets that are not treated well at all . They spend long hours tied up somewhere, with no water, and food for days some time. No veterinaran care , and often the only real contact they have with humans is when their keeper kicks them, or takes, and dumps them some where.

    Then there are our pets that end up in animal shelters, or worst of all in a medical research lab some where.

    Before you get a pet...where it be a dog, cat, a bird, or what every your chioce of a pet maybe. Ask yourself if you are ready to care for a pet for the rest of it's life.

    Pets require a lot of time, they need feeding, grooming, Vet Care, training, they need love. and they need to be cleaned up after. If you are not willing to do all that it takes to have a healthy, happy pet Please do not get one.... That you will sooner or later take to the Humane Society or dog pound.

Please have your pet Spayed or Neutered.
