THE 73 YARD GAME WINNING TD

1951, 1979 AND 1999 CHAMPIONSHIPS

What would be the odds that when the Rams
are playing for the championship, a 4th quarter
73 yard TD would be the difference in winning or
losing.

IN THE 1951 NFL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Between the Cleveland Browns and the Los
Angeles Rams, Norm Van Brocklin hit Tom Fears
for a 73 yard TD in the 4th quarter to win the
championship.

SUPER BOWL XIV

The Rams were leading the heavily favored
Pittsburgh Steelers 19-17 in the 4th quarter when
Terry Bradshaw hit John Stallworth for a 73 yard
TD to take the lead.

SUPER BOWL XXXIV

Then almost 20 years to the day, Kurt Warner hits Isaac Bruce for a 73 yard fourth quarter TD to win
the game.

STRANGE BUT TRUE ON THE 2 GAMES THE RAMS BECAME CHAMPIONS

IT WAS THE SECOND YEAR FOR BOTH THE CLEVELAND BROWNS AND TENNESSEE TITANS (IT WAS THE 2ND YEAR FOR THE
BROWNS IN THE NFL AND THE SECOND YEAR THE NFL CALLED THEM TITANS).

THE 1951 BROWNS BEAT THE RAMS IN THE REGULAR SEASON AS DID THE TITANS.

THE RAMS WERE IN THEIR 6TH SEASON IN
LA IN 1951 AND THE 5TH SEASON IN ST.
LOUIS.

THE RAMS SCORED THE MOST POINTS IN
BOTH REGULAR SEASONS (1951 & 1999)

IN BOTH GAMES, IT WAS A TIED SCORE IN
THE FOURTH QUARTER. 17-17 IN 1951 AND
ONE POINT LESS IN 1999.

AND IN BOTH GAMES, A 73 YARD TD PASS
BROKE THE TIE AND WAS THE ONLY POINTS
SCORED AFTER THE TD.
