HOMEYMOONERS:
1.
My wife and I went out last night,
to hear a concert on the square.
I'm still remembering what I saw,
as we watched the people there.
2.
The band played, toe-tapping music,
while the singers, smiled along .
The crowd was, oh, so happy,
and they applauded, every song!
3.
But the couple, in the front row,
they stole the show for me.
When he, sang her, some words he knew,
and she kissed him, on the cheek.
4.
His hair was white as snow,
and hers had lots of gray.
But they seemed like two teenagers,
while the band just played away.
5.
They did not see us watching
'cause they never turned around.
They were the show, within the show,
though they never made a sound.
6.
They applauded, every song,
and sometimes, she touched his face.
Then back to looking at each other,
while the band picked up the pace.

I said, "They must be newlyweds,
out together for the night."
My wife said, "They act like, honeymooners, so I think you might be right."
8.
And when the show was over,
and people talked to beat the band,
they were looking at each other
and just sat there, holding hands.
9.
I waited by the doorway,
because, I just had to know.
I asked, "Are you folks, newlyweds?"
They laughed and turned to go!

He grinned, "We are, we always are,
five years, it's been this way.
Each day is another honeymoon,
and it's been that way each day."

My wife, and I, went home that night,
and I kissed, her wedding ring.
She said, "Honey, what's got into you?" but I, could not say a thing.

And when I looked into her eyes
and saw a falling tear.
Both, my eyes, got real blurry,
and we held each other near.
13.
That's how it is with honeymooners,
which just might include you all.
Just look into each other's eyes,
until, the teardrops fall.
