1.
What did you learn in school my friend,
when we were classmates way back when?
So far we've come from where we've been,
with all the lessons that we learned, way back then.
2.
So many different faces, including you and me, attended class together, to see what we could be.
Some came dedicated, others sat reluctantly, but we were all enrolled, in the class of you and me.
3.
Was the past much gentler, than it is now?
Did a changing world change us somehow?
Somehow we learned alot,
though I don't remember how,
but I know we helped each other,
be the we that we are now.
4.
So much, so much, that we were challenged by,
so young, so young, we thought we'd never die.
Was there anything that we didn't dare?
And that first kiss, do you remember where?
5.
After so many miles, and so many years,
again we've gathered together here.
And as we look around its great to see,
so many smiling faces, from the class of you and me.
6.
All those crushes that we carried,
brought us love and sometimes tears,
but, some of them, we up and married,
and have cherished, all these years.
7.
Now, do you remember things,
that made you blush?
And others that you still keep hushed?
Perhaps you're glad some things are past,
like your first speech in front of class?
8.
So, our meandering paths continue to blend, together, in the beginning, and now, near the end.
Still sharing what we've done,
and how we've really been,
and by golly its great, to be with you again!
9.
Your faces have changed but you all still smile,
the name tags help, but after a while,
of trying to place, you, back so far,
I'm sorry, but I really don't know, who you are!
10.
(sung very slowly)
So many wondering faces, including you and me, attended class together, to see what we could be.
Some came dedicated, others sat reluctantly,
but we had all enlisted, in the class of you and me.
11.
What did you learn in school my friends,
when we were classmates way back when.
So far we've come, from where we've been,
with all the lessons that we learned,
way back then.
(repeat, slowly)
So far we've come.... from where we've been.... with all the lessons.... that we learned.... way back then.
