It was said she was the only "doctor" they saw).

ANYONE WITH INFORMATION ON THE LOCATION OF "OLD SAVAGE HILL" NEAR MCCONDICHIE HILL IN WILCOX COUNTY , AL. /FURMAN OR SNOW HILL (this is mentioned in the "13 Alabama Ghosts and Jeffrey" book by Kathryn Tucker Windham-the cying spirit at the well-) I RECALL MY FATHER TELLING THIS STORY ABOUT A SPRING (possibly Wild Cat Creek as mentioned in the "Records of Wilcox County Alabama" Book) NEAR THE AREA WHERE THEY LIVED AS A CHILD
Update 8/15/04: Visited an elderly cousin at the nursing home Pearlie Purifoy Boykin (daughter of Berry & Ann -JohnsonPurifoy/ granddaughter of Berry & Emiline- McConnico Purifoy) and she remebers as a child living near Cedar Creek and the details of the above mentioned ghost story.

Daphanie 13 born Oct 1886, dau.-Lucy 11 born 1888 **NOTE /(Lucy married King Howell parents of Richard Howell who married Emma Purifoy { sister of Pearlie who married Amos Boykin} granddaughter of the above mentioned Berry & Emiline Purifoy) **, dau.- Mattie 9 born Sept. 1890, dau.- Tilda 7 born Aug. 1892, Dau.- Fannie 4 born Nov. 1895
** NOTE: name of FANNIE my mother was named after her grandmother & aunt** . Amos also found on 1930 census with his nephew Amos Boykin (Dorcas's son) in Carson. Buried in Axis, Al. at "the Bluff" in May 1961 marked with a number only at that time. His father was supposedly (Judge) John Gordy of Chatom, Al. & mother Fannie Files buried in the Good Hope Cemetary of St. Stephens, Al.She died before my mother married in 1943 as she remembers. Her father's first marriage was to Miss" E" Grimes sister of "Arie" Irene Grimes Pruitt last wife Georgia Mae Churchman Gordy of Axis, Al. presently in Mt. Vernon, Al. (born June 22, 1909). He was ? married to another woman which my mother is unsure of her name ( she was called "Lemon") , there were no children.

"JIMMY" JAMES GORDY, SR. OF MT. VERNON, AL. BORN July 13 th.,1950 was 10 yo as remembered by my mother at the time of their fathers death. Died 8/10/2005 of cancer leaving a wife Joann & children as follows: Alexis, James, Jr., Demetrius, Lesha, & Shannon & (5) grandchildren. Buried 8/20/05 in Mt. Vernon, Al. at the Morning Star cemetary. His step-mother Georgia (96 yo now) stated "he looks like Amos & had his daddy's ways."

AMOS"Bear" BOYKIN BORN 1908 ? (22 yo on the 1930 census for Carson living with his uncle Amos Gord(ia)y, my mother states he "Bear" always thought I was his sister, he was grown and married to Pearlie before he knew any different. Died 2/14/1991 and is buried at the Good Hope cemetary of St. Stephens, Al.. His mother DORCUS FILES HOWELL/ (sister of Amos Gordy) BORN ? 1884/ SSDI lived to be ? 108 yo died Mar. 1983 buried in the Good Hope Cemetary of St. Stephens , Al. She was married to Henry Howell who died in Searcy in Mt. Vernon, Al.
