The Florida State University Marching Chiefs is made up of approximently 450 young men and women representing virtually every major available at Florida State University. The Marching Chiefs, in addition to their halftime and pregame performances, regularly travel to away footballl games, including Bowl games. They also participate in the Homecoming parade, and are an integral part in the School of Music's remarkable Prisim concert in early December. The Chief's arrangements are largely composed by our personal arranger Dr. Charles Carter, who has been with the program since 1959, and is the backbone to both the Chief's music and their unforgetable sound. The Marching Chiefs are the only marching band ever to be featured in Sports Illustrated while also having traveled overseas to play. Thus earning the title of "World Renowned". Recently, the Marching Chiefs renewed that title by making a halftime performance at a London Monarchs (NFL Europe League) football game. Since then, the fans and players of the London Monarchs have used the "Seminole War Chant" to boost spirits during the football games. The Marching Chiefs have consistently raised the standards for both band performances and musicality, and uphold a proud and reputable tradition for excellence. Not only that but if you listen carefully, no matter if it's an away game or home game you will always hear only them playing. Even in opponents home stadiums they are the loudest band playing. Proving they are by far the best college band going. So next time your watching a Seminole football game, take the time and give the band a listen. |
