Pink Frosty and Grandpa Ott

These are most of the brugmansia hybrids I will be working with in 2007. I may plant a few more over the spring and summer though.
We had one of the worse ice storms in history this year, and I lost power for 10 days.
As of today 3-28-07, over 100 of my brugs seem to be dead thanks to the ice and cold.
In another month of two I will post a list of the plants that survived temps that should have killed them. They were all exposed to below freezing temps for days, and single digits several times, possibly even below 0 a couple of times.
Every plant I have should be dead , but some how many survived this, and not just brugmansia plants. It just goes to show that one can't believe every thing they read or hear.
Most of these seeds have seen the same temps, it will be interesting to see what the germination rate is after being frozen.
Update...
About 1/2 of the brugs came back, I still have some that are just now putting on leaves. 8-12-07

I like the idea of this cross so well that I got a second pack to try. It is one of the few hybrids that survived the ice storm, I still have two of them from the 2006 planting.

Pink Favorite

Unknown Yellow

Yellow Jamaica

Whiskers

Of all my brugs I like this plant best!

Temple Goddess

Isabella X ?

Isabella X ?

This hybrid has seen the upper 20s several times and can also deal with 100+ temps. To make it even better the blooms last a long time, and its one of my fastest growers.
I will be in the breeding program next year!

There was a late freeze here this year, so I took this top cutting just incase the mother failed to make it. I would rank this plant in the top three I have as far as growth rate, insect resistance and cold tolerance.
