<.> Jerry was like any young man; he had a dream of being a husband and daddy. In his wildest dream at 19, he thought it would not ever happen. Most of his old school mates were married with two kids. But, every time Jerry fell in love some flashy man would come around with money and a car and take his woman away. But there was one woman that had a bad time keeping a man because of her mother, Lisa.
<.>Lisa had three different men wanting to marry her. But her mother would threaten them with unspeakable acts. So, they ran from Lisa. Now, Lisa and Jerry had known each other for about three years. One day, Lisa moved in across the street from Jerry and his girlfriend, Jalla and her baby. Jerry and Jalla were having troubles, mainly because she had had a lot off mental problems. She was an incest baby and Jerry was trying to save her baby from what she had gone through.
<.>Jalla's father who was all so her grandfather kept trying to keep her baby from her. It was then that Jerry and I stepped in and said, "No!". We had known the family for many years and we also ran when we saw them coming but, in our hearts, we wanted to protect that baby at all cost. So, Jerry and I got involved with C.P.S. and Jerry tried hard to go to work and take care of the two at home.
<.>That was not to last long, because while Jerry was at work, Jalla would not feed the baby or change it's dirty diapers. Jerry called C.P.S. and told them he was breaking up with Jalla and that they needed to find a good home for her baby. The child was not Jerry's. He just felt someone had to help the girl and her child.
<.>Now my son, Jerry is no angel. He knew that living out of wedlock was wrong. I don't know everything that happened between them, but I do know that the way she was treating the baby kept him upset all the time. He would take care of the baby at night and go to work, come home, take care of the baby's momma, clean house and cook supper. This went on for many months even after C.P.S. took the baby.
<.>When we went to court, C.P.S saw how weak my son's heart was for Jalla's baby. Now, remember this for later on in the story: Soon Jerry told Jalla to go home to her parents that he was not strong enough to take everything that was going on. Jalla refuses to go. So, Jerry gets her a Job at Foldgers where he was working. After she had worked there for a while, he talked to his boss and let him know what was going on as far as his relationships with Jalla and Lisa.
<.>Even the boss knew before me, his Mother that Jerry was engaged to Lisa. Even his sisters and the next door neighbors. When did I find out? When I saw them going across the street like a train: Jerry's sisters, friends, neighbors, landlady and his soon-to-be wife. Me, I just set there on the porch and shook my head. Yep! That boy of mine has lost his mind. But he was in love and there was nothing anyone could do to stop him from marrying Lisa.
<.>About three months went by Jerry and Lisa went to live with her mother. They stayed there for about four weeks. One day, Lisa and her mother got into a fight. Her mother had bought a house and had it move to her front yard. Lisa's Mother had told her about how she would be remolding the house and that she expected Jerry to pay for the house and the cost of the remodeling
<.>Lisa's Mother did this with out ever asking them if they even wanted a house. So, when Lisa had her belly full of the whole situation, the fight started. They were on the stairs and Lisa's mother threw a cup at Lisa. Of course, that sent Lisa into a rage. Lisa started yelling at her mother and her mother picked up a two-by -four and hit Lisa with it. That is when Jerry got upset and picked up Lisa's daughter, Marisa and lead Lisa to the car, and Jerry told her mother that she would never hurt Lisa or Marisa again.
<.>Lisa's mother was furious with Jerry and swore she would get even. After a while everything got better. Then, one day Lisa came to my house and told me she thought she was pregnant. This was hard for me to believe, being that when Jerry was nine years old his stepfather and his stepfather's lover molested him and busted him in four different directions. The doctor said he most likely would never be a father.
<.>So, I go tell my daughter, Angela that Lisa thinks she is pregnant. And, Angela takes her last few dollars and buys a pregnancy test for Lisa. Lisa takes the test and she is defiantly pregnant. My son, Jerry was in Heaven with tears in his eyes. His dream had come true. A good job, home, child and soon to be daddy and husband.
