Click here to skip all the way to the 2009 final totals I will be having 65 plants in the garden, this year. Both rows will have 8 teepees with 4 plants per teepee (32 plants), plus one single plant on the far end of the garden.. I will also have 11 in the yard. April 18: Seedlings are all doing good. I have to replant some First Prize seeds, but all is doing good now. I raised the light units once, already. The Burgermaster are a late addition to my plans. Since I found out I will have more time to tend to them this summer, I ordered the Burgermaster plants to come in May. The rest I am growing from seed. I broke down and bought a Topsy Turvy upside down tomato planter and will plant a Husky Cherry in it using coir; instead of potting soil. May 2: Measured .2" of rain May 3: Measured .1" of rain May 4: Measured 1.5" of rain May 6; Measured .85" of rain May 4-5: Too much rain, plants to tall. Bad combination, so I re-potted them. I will plant at the end of the month. May 7: Measured .2" of rain May 8: Measured .5" of rain May 10: Measured .3" of rain May 13: Aaugh! Never order from Gurney's!. Had to change my map again. However, now I finally get to try Tomande. Threw away the Burgermaster plants I got through the mail. They were diseased, yellow and flatened. Went to a local green house and a market and found........ Country Taste, Black Krim, Champion, Mt. Pride and Tomande. Planted 1/2 of the garden. Hope the weather holds. May 17 & 18: FROSTED! Lost 15 plants, including 4 Black Krim, 1 Champion, 1 Country Taste, 1 Sweet Baby Girl, 1 Sun Sugar, 1 Yellow Cherry, 1 Red Star, 1 Green Grape, 1 Sweet Quartz, 2 Bush Big Boy and 1 Hillbilly May 19: Went plant shopping AGAIN :) Found some Marmande, a Belgium Giant, Steak Sandwich, a Juliet, an Italian Heirloom and a Reisentraube. Managed to replace the Champon, & Country Taste. Also, had a few extra plants at home. May 25: Measured 1.2" of rain Plants look great. No more frost around. Yaay! May 26: Measured 2.3" of rain May 27: Measured .15" of rain May 28: Measured .3" of rain May 29: Measured .4" of rain May update! We had exactly 8" of rain and 2 frosts, which unfortunately nailed 16 plants. Garden is doing well now and are getting a start. The topsy turvy tomato is curling upward towrd the sun, which is not a surprize. June 1: Measured .25" of rain June 2: Measured .2" of rain June 4: Measured .6" of rain June 5: Measured 1.3" of rain June 9: Measured .25" of rain June 12: Discovered that my Champion plants have lots of tomatoes coming on already. June 17: Measured .85" of rain June 18: Measured 1.3" of rain (Man I sure have enough wheat sprouting in garden from my straw. Tomatoes are moving along slow, but sure.) June 20: Measured .3" of rain June 23: Had to throw away Topsy Turvy with plant, as the nursery that supp;lied that plant had Bacterial Stem Canker and came to stores collecting and destroying their plants. I bought a Better Boy to replace it on the teepee. (FINALLY- I got the garden weeded. It was too hot to mow grass by the time I was done and put clippings on, but I did it them all tied up again. I did forget to spray for bugs and fungus)
