There won't be any rhyme or reason to the way I write things and I'm just going to put things down as I think of them to try and give you some idea of what it's like to be in our skin(s)
.

You find yourself saying "we" and "our" instead of "me" and "mine"...for example, "our" birthday, "our" parents, etc. I suppose it's a little confusing to people who don't know you're a twin, but that's the way your mind works.

As I look back, I guess it is kind of a special thing, but we didn't know it at the time, and just took the attention for granted and thought it was normal. We thought it was funny when people got us mixed up, (still do), but sometimes they get embarrassed. When I meet one of her friends in a store or something and they think I'm her, I just let them think it to avoid an akward moment for them and she does the same thing.

We did have a unique problem with the opposite sex though. If some male person smiled and started a conversation, you never knew it it was a pick-up or if he thought you were your sister,so it was kind of a tricky situation. On one hand you may want to rebuff him (maybe not), on the other hand you didn't want to be rude to your sister's friend, so I guess that was one handicap of being a twin.

There is one other thing, I don't know if you would call it a handicap or not, but when you go some place together, you'd better at least have your hair combed and make sure that your jeans aren't on backwards because someone will notice it.

It's kind of hard not to be noticed when you look just like the person you're with and most people just grin and keep walking but some stop and talk to us and you wouldn't believe some of the things people say, such as "why don't you fix your hair like your sisters?" leaving you wondering what's wrong with yours, but we chalk it up as one of the perks? of being a twin and the next time the other one may be on the wrong end of the stick so it all evens out in the end.

Sometimes people ask us things or say things to us that they wouldn't think of asking or saying to other people, but it's kind of like we're public domain. I don't know about other twins, but we feel that it goes with the territory and don't mind at all.
