The fun of driving is not all due to Horsepower or top speed. A major portion of the fun is driving a car that handles well. A car that makes you feel as if man and machine have become one. My goal throughout this project has been to build a car that would do just that. My project car is a 1994 Chevrolet Caprice Classic that I purchased used in '96. The Caprice (also known as the B-Body) is a vehicle with surprising versatility. The B-Body platform ranges from huge family wagons to the large yet nimble Impala Super Sports. The Impala is the most sought after amongst the B-Bodies with it's leather interior, sleek styling, and a top speed around 150+MPH, but as you might have guessed it's the most expensive. Even with the money to spend on a Impala they can still be difficult to obtain, for they were only manufactured from 1994 to '96 in limited production, yet the Impala is more or less just a sportier version of the Caprice 9C1 (Police Option). Well, I settled for the even less expensive Caprice Classic in the same DGGM (dark green gray metalic) paint that was offered on the '95-'96 Impala SS, but the color was all my car had in common with the Impala, in other words the performance and handling left alot to be desired. So, I soon began planning and saving for the transformation from "Granny Mobile" to something my Wife and I could really enjoy driving.
