Exterior Modifications

Grille

I planned on retaining the original chrome grille that came with the car, untill a friend of mine gave me an SS grille from a wrecked DCM Impala (Thanks Chad!). Although it was cracked in the corner it was easy to repair and repaint to my DGGM color. Before installing the freshly painted grille I removed the hood ornament and filled the hole to complete the new look.

Wheel Well Mouldings

The wheel wells where trimmed with chrome moulding from the factory which didn't quite conform to the new sportier look, so I replaced them with the same DGGM ones found on the Impala. Looks much better now.

Caprice SS Quarter Panel Script

Although, I used a lot of the same parts used on the Impala SS in changing the looks of my car, I didn't want to use any of the emblems or the Impala name, because it's not a true Impala SS. While in my effort to keep it non-Impala I discovered that GM built an export version of the Impala under a different name (Caprice SS). The Caprice SS is mostly the same, but it has it's own 1/4 panel script and a name plate above the radio similiar to the Impala. Soon these items found there way onto my mod list too.

Trunk Lid

To give the rear a look to match the new style found on the rest of the car, I removed both the lock cylinder and the bowtie from the trunk lid then smoothed the panel to installed a '68 Corvette crossed flags emblem in their place. Then followed up the with the installation of a SS rear spoiler.

Lighting

Sequential turn and brake lights along with the addition of two extra bulbs to the rear tail light assemblies.
