ART

The Dot Master

I am 54 years old, and I have been drawing and painting all of my life, or more to the point, when I first learned what a pencil or a brush could do. My younger days were spent earning a living for my family. I did art in my spare time, when I had the chance. Over the years I went to many different colleges, but never got a degree. Then in 1989 I decided what the heck, just go on back and get the sheepskin.
Around the time I was in college, I was introduced to the Pointillism or Stipple style of drawing - that is, constructing pictures from dots. I was in love with it, and as you can see I still am. In it I found a truth, honesty and a beauty, with the ability to show a lot of detail in a piece. I knew that it was for me. No lies, just the honesty of the ink on a white piece of paper. Too many artists today use color to make up for lack of skills in drawing. I am not speaking of all artists here, just a few. But, with this style it is either right or it is wrong, and that fact can't be missed by anyone, artist or the average person! Some of my work evokes strong emotions in some people. I hope that all who see my artwork will enjoy them.

Idea's I found useful, in my evolution as an artist!

----------------------------------------------------------------
The purpose of "looking" is to survive, to cope, to manipulate, to discern what is useful, agreeable, or theatening to the me, what enhances or what diminishes the me. This we are trained to do from our first day. As Artist We present ourselves to the world as we see it,,. Hopefully we capture it's beauty, and feeling for other's, that will last longer than a fleeting moment.

To up and coming Artist, and Pro's alike!

Practice, Practice, Practice, always continue to hone your skills. No matter what others may say, be the best Artist YOU can! Let not your heart be troubled by what other's may think.
