The Zieley Family of America

Genealogical Biographical
and Historical Notices

Written by David Zieley 1824-1913

This is a transcript of a journal my great-grandfather started writing in 1901 when he was 77 years old, on the occasion of his 50th wedding anniversary. He wrote it in his own hand, and the information he gives has not been completely verified. Some of the dates or names may be inaccurate. It was my intention to present the journal as written, not correct it. Information in brackets was added by myself, or others, long after his death. Please contact me to comment on anything you wish through the e-mail address below.

This journal is on three pages, look for the link at the bottom of each page.

There is now a family album of images at the end of page three. My special thanks to Carl Battaglia for his scanning and re-touching the images in the album.

Obituary

Anna died in the bloom of young womanhood - a sweet devoted child, with bright prospects - was stricken with disease and we had to part for a time.

Mary was the wife of Harvey Donaldson for a few brief years and she too - so dear to us - was taken from us so soon.

Isabella - an infant of a year -
a sweet child was taken from us.

Sherman - a devoted son - just coming into manhood - passed away when there seemed before him a life of activity and usefulness.
