I owned and operated a No-Kill Animal Rescue, and Pet Boarding Facility in 29 Palms, California for 17 years. My Grandmother and I, originally started a "Boarding" ONLY Kennel in 1986 named "Sundale Kennels", in 29 Palms,Ca. Unfortnately, a LOT of Pet Owner's NEVER came back for their Pets they had Boarded with us!... A little History of the area in 29 Palms, is that 29 Palms, Ca. (about 100 miles east of Los Angeles), is considered the "High Desert", and is home to the largest, Marine Base Training Camp, in the United States. A lot of the Solidiers, after Basic Training, when they get their orders to leave, have 72 hours to get their personal life in order. They have to vacate their livng quarters, (apartment or houses), and find a place for their furniture, electronics, and unfortunately, their Pets. Most of the time the Soldiers, and their families are shipped overseas, and their Pets can't come... Very Sad...:(( My Grandmother, Dr. Madge Cereceda, and I, found a real need for a NO KILL "Animal Rescue", and " Pet Boarding" Facility in this area. Since we had the room, 40 acres, we turned Sundale Pet Boarding Kennels, into "Sundale Animal Rescue and Boarding". We had over 50 dogs at all times of the year. We would match Owners to Pets, and find good homes for the Dogs and Cats. Many Pets, FOUND US on their own!!! We were located 9 miles East of the Marine Base, and a lot of stray, or abandoned animals, being hungry or thirsty, would end up on our doorstep, needing Food, Love, and Medical Attention. We ran "Sundale Animal Rescue", from 1983 to November of 2001. My Grandmother, Dr. Madge Cereceda, passed away in October of 2001, and my Son and I, closed Sundale Animal Rescue.. Fortunately, our Animal Rescue business, in the 17 years of our operation in 29 Palms,Ca., raised the conciousness of Pet Lovers in the town, and another NO KILL shelter, and MANY other Rescue agencies were born, and were in operation, when we finally closed our doors in 2001. I moved back to the beach area (Venice Beach) in Los Angeles in 2002, and have been doing Pet Home Services, for Pet owners, for the past Four years.
