According to the memoirs of Adeline Ravoux and also Marguerite Gachet, Vincent did not shoot himself in a wheatfield while painting. (as seen in many movies)
They say he he shot himself "behind a manure pile, on a nearby farm."

As I was creating this painting from a drawing Vincent did from June / July 1890, I could not help thinking "Could this farm be the place where Vincent shot himself?"
