When Vincent arrived in the town of Auvers-sur-Oise in late May 1890, the weather was sunny and the skys were blue. This soon changed. After the first weeks, it began to rain for days on end. This must have contributed to his growing feelings of sadness and extreme loneliness.

I have tried to express this in this painting done from a drawing he did in July, 1890.
