In this painting a peasant woman is seen posing in surroundings that constitute her livelihood, in a field of ripening wheat. It uses the time honored contrasts of Yellow and Violet in the wheatfields and Red and Green at the farm in the center. This painting was done from a drawing that Vincent did in Auvers, that for one reason or another never became a painting.
