This webpage, Realm of the Pipe, will focus on pipes that I consider especially attractive. With the exception of the Fillenwarth, all of the pipes are from my collection. I am only placing the pipe photos online so others may also enjoy their beauty. Sorry, but none are for sale. |
A PIPE GUIDE
The first through fourth pages are devoted to American pipes. The fifth page has two Czechoslovakian pipes shown. The sixth and seventh pages have Danish pipes displayed while on the eighth page you will only see French pipes. Israel is represented on the ninth page and Italian pipes are found on pages ten through twelve. |
DANE CRAFT - C |
I purchased this attractive Dane Craft from The Piperack (http://www.thepiperack.com -
orders@thepiperack.com). Note the nice straight grain which runs all around the entire pipe. The pipe is 5 1/4" by 2 1/2" and sits comfortably in either hand. The nomenclature reads "Dane Craft" and then it has a "C" below. As an aside note, part of a response in issue #210 of "Pipes Digest" to an inquiry in #209 says in reference to Michael Kabik, "Among the pipe brands for which he crafted are: CHP-X PIPES, KANE, GRAN-HILL, TOBAK LTD., SVEN-LAR, DANE CRAFT, WENHALL PRESIDENTIALS, SCULPTUR, and his own name." So perhaps Michael Kabik had a hand or two in the making of this handsome pipe. I have a "Skulptur By Kabik" on my other site: http://community-2.webtv.net/busisav/UniquePipes/page8.html. [Note: Since writing the above, Michael Kabik has informed me that he did carve this pipe so it is indeed another of his fine creations.] |
DELTA PIPES - Pike |
| The blast on this pipe is particularly attractive with a very nice uniformity to it. Though it doesn't show up in this photo, the location of the tobacco bowl is on the end on the pipe which makes it almost straight out from the stem. Another thing that doesn't show up is that the pipe is actually triangular in shape. Looking straight into the tobacco chamber on the end of the pipe, visualize the pipe walls as forming an upright triangle with rounded edges and you'll have an idea of what the pipe looks like. As you can tell from the title of my other webpage, "Unique Pipes" (http://community.webtv.net/busisav/UniquePipes) I am attracted to unusual pipes. I also admire beautiful pipes. I feel this pipe fills the bill on both counts. Here is the write-up Mike Fauscette of Delta Pipes had on his website before I bought the pipe: "Pike - Grade - Pheasant. Brown sandblast horn with handcut cumberland stem. Finish: Brown Mahogany sandblast. Nicely grained blast, very comfortable stem design. About 6" long with 1 1/4" bowl." The pipe came with a certificate of authenticity signed by Michael Fauscette. Delta Pipes' website is http://www.deltapipes.com and the e-mail address is mike@deltapipes.com. |
DENNY SOUERS - Villager Collection Petite walnut # 811 |

I purchased this pipe from Lioncrest. Unfortunately soon after starting to carefully break it in, a problem developed. Lioncrest promptly responded to the issue and to Denny Souer's credit, he didn't just correct the problem but crafted a whole new pipe for me! Yes, I now have a replacement pipe which is remarkably similar. Besides being a shade or two darker, the two main differences are a black stem and a very nice added touch of a thin ridge of a plateau top extending from the rim of the bowl all the way over to the end of the shank. I really like that latter aspect! :-)
Here is what the Lioncrest site has to say about this pipe: "This is a Denny Souers Villager Collection Petite walnut # 811. The approximate maximum measurements of this pipe are as follows: pipe length 6 inches, bowl inside diameter 1 inch, bowl outside diameter 2 x 1 7/8 inches and bowl height 2 1/8 inches. This pipe is part of the Denny Souers Villager Collection and was sold to a gentleman in Oregon." Clicking on http://www.lioncrest.com/pag5g.html will take you to Lioncrest's Pipe Makers Selection Page. Their e-mail address is Tom@lioncrest.com. |
