Full Body Integrated Massage
This popular style incorporates meditation and many different modalities of massage including Swedish, Polarity, Reflexology, R.O.M. Stretches, Shiatsu, Neuromuscular Reiki and Deep Tissue. The pressure of this massage can be varied from light to deep depending on client preference. Integrated Massage refers to a collection of Techniques designed to bring the client Emotional Comfort, Relaxation, Peace and Inner-Balance.
Deep Tissue and Neuromuscular Massage
This approach to massage is used to release chronic patterns of muscular tension and bring relief of pain to "pulled", sore or knotted muscles. Often the movements are directed against the grain of the muscles (cross-fiber) using the fingers, thumbs or elbows. This is applied with greater pressure and at deeper levels than with other styles. This massage also applies concentrated finger pressure to specific individual muscles. This is a very intense and detailed approach used to increase blood flow and to release trigger points (intense knots of muscle tension that refer pain to other areas of the body.)
This style may be incorporated into a full body session or a whole session may be devoted and focused on one or more problem areas of discomfort and distress. Times vary from 1 hour to 2 hours in length depending on the clients needs.
Esalen Style-----Swedish Massage
Esalen massage is a modern variation that was developed at the famous growth center, Esalen Institute in Big Sur California. It's focus is not so much on relieving muscle tension or increasing circulation as it is on creating deeper states of relaxation, beneficial states of consciousness and general well-being. Esalen Massage is very sensual, slow, rhythmic hypnotic and focuses on the Mind/Body as a whole. This style uses Full Flowing Body Strokes from head to toe and is traditionally done completely unclothed with 1/2 sheet drape, towel drape or no drape at all. Whatever degree of modesty the client prefers is honored.
Jikiden Reiki
Two Japanese words pronounced "jick a den" , "ray kee", and meaning, the original, life force energy, represent a modality of light touch massage, that influences the channeling of omnipresent energy to promote healing & balance of the entire being. Amazing results can be achieved with this hands on healing process. Our therapist, Steve Baker went to Japan to receive first hand experience and certification from an 83 yr. old Japanese woman, Mrs. Yamaguchi. She was taught Reiki 60 years ago, directly by Dr.Hayashi. (One of the original Practitioners). The Reiki energy is divine energy of the highest dimension, an energy of the light that is the source of the universe. Reiki energy will influence not only the physical body, but also spirituality, and promote deep healing within. The therapist is the medium through which this energy is focused to the client. A Reiki session will work synergistically with any other medical or alternative therapy.
