I wonder what she has in that little purse

that she so gingerly carries on her arm?

Is it a lipstick and a book of verse?

Does it hold some keys, or a lucky charm?

Does it match her shoes or her dress instead?

Does she take it to the zoo, and Balmoral too?

Does she keep it beside her in the royal bed?

Does she take it with her to the royal loo?

What will happen to it upon her demise?

Does it go to Harry, Will, or her husband Phil?

When they open it, will it be televised?

Will it be disappointing, or a colossal thrill?

All I know is, it's always there

wherever and whenever she appears.

Perhaps it's a comb and mirror for fixing hair;

It could be mementos she holds very dear.


I don't know what you think, but as for my vote,

I think it's a sandwich of mustard and Spam,

and perhaps a brief note:

"IF FOUND, RETURN TO BUCKINGHAM."
