Personal answer from The Atlanta Opera:
"Harry Belafonte will indeed perform a benefit concert on Saturday October 25 at 8:00pm. As far as we know, this is a special appearance that is not part of a tour.....The regular price of tickets ranges from $24-250 (the highest priced tickets include a champagne reception,a ticket in the front orchestra section, and a buffet dinner which will be attended by Mr. Belafonte.) However,we are currently offering 25% off of the ticket price in most sections. To buy tickets, go to:

or call: 1-800=35=OPERA."

No article or musical review of the concert in Atlanta,(October 25 ), but I received the following from the Atlanta Opera. yesterday:
".....From what I understand. The Harry Belafonte show was a great success. We did not sell out the house, but ticket sales went well enough that we did make money...the audience seemed to have a wonderful time:they were very enthusiastic. Mr.Belafonte seemed to be in good form.He had promised us only an hour and a half of music, but then he proceeded to play encores for another half-hour. After a quick shower and change, he attended the gala dinner and posed for pictures with the attendees, which everyone enjoyed.I will try to send you a picture.
The only bit of news was that he is not planning to do any more concerts for a while..did not say why, though. He certainly seemed to be in excellent health, with plenty of energy.
I did not know much about Harry Belafonte before he came to do this show in Atlanta, and I have come to respect him a great deal.He is an activist as well a an artist, and he believes in doing good in the world. He is extremely articulate and intelligent and gives wonderful interviews. He is a professional in every sense and I am glad I had the chance to learn more about him.."
THANK YOU,Lindsay. I am so happy that at least one more person has found out why Harry Belafonte has such a devoted following throughout the world, and why I am trying to do a website about him.
On October 30, Harry Belafonte presented a video tribute to the late Gregory Peck at a special event in Hollywood.
