Rucker, John A. "Tony" Lieut. 12th In. (Indian Wars) in 1878 accidentally drowned (along with Lt. Henley) crossing a rver in White River Canyon, AZ during the Victorio Campaign. He went to rescue Lt. Henley and bothwere drowned [now known as Rucker Canyon]. Rucker was in command of Indian Scouts. Camp Rucker, AZ was named after him. |
