OKLAHOMA CITY - STANDING ON PRINCIPLE?

The evidence is overwhelming that
McVeigh's outrage at the U.S. government was primarily due to the Waco events, combined with his other resentments against federal authority.

He even - without success - attended militia meetings (but never was a member of any militia group) trying to foment some action in retaliation; lots of witnesses from all sorts of people.

Which leaves the question of why some people refuse to accept that, and attempt to find some other reason.

My working hypothesis, in this and other "conspiracy" a.k.a. "alternate explanation" theories, is that people whose life is built upon a uncompromising "good" or "evil" - "black" or "white" - principle of human behaviour and motive need (for their own self image and ego protection) someone or something to blame when a person who shares their own views/principles performs such an horrendous act.

From CNN article of June 11, 2001:

"The Bureau of Prisons says McVeigh received the [Roman Catholic] sacrament called the 'Anointing of the Sick' [for oldtimers, it is what used to be called 'Last Rites'] by an unidentified prison chaplain.

"That sacrament includes a confession and absolution of sins."

--- end CNN excerpt ---

His last hand-written statement also challenges the thinking and judgments of those "either" "or" folks.
