Poem by Peddlar .....
......... POEM ............
I've been riding and writing since who knows when.
My hair was dark and thick and my beard was light and thin.
And now I'm old, gristled, grizzled and gray ....
So different from that . first riding day ..
And now its not about where I want to go
that I dream ...
Its about ... I'm thinking more about ... where it is
That I've Been ..
But still the miles and dreams roll on ..
and I'll keep rolling and dreaming
till all my hair and tire tread is gone.
And when it comes my time
for me to leave
for that .. other side.
I think I'll take my bike with me ...
for the ride!

a Poem K. Peddlar Bridges EDITOR'S NOTE: The Poem below was written about my own life. But, the truth of the matter is that this poem mostl;y holds true for many of us Bikerpoets ... Sky, Lizzard, Uncle T and so on. And the Brothers and Sisters behind us, who are working on making this poem as we speak ... for most Bikerpoets begin thier relationship with the wheel and the word when they are young and it doesn't end 'till it ends. The cadance and meter of this poem are writen and read much in the Western Cow-Poke meter and cadance. The Voice is writen in the tone and fastion of Waddie Mitchill The Cowboy Poet. Waddie Mitchill is a Western Cow-Poet who I greatly admire. I would really like to meet him and if he is not the' Western Cowboy Poet Laureate ... he should be ... Peddlar. *********************************************************** |
