Kitty Poems From
~ CATTMANDU ~

I AM JUST A CAT

I am just a cat,
and I stay in my place...
Up there on your chair,
on your bed or your face!

I am just a cat,
and I don't demand much
I'm happy with Friskies,
and canned tuna and such!

I am just a cat,
and that's a fact...
When I meow for attention,
It's not just an act!

I am just a cat,
and we'll get along fine...
As long as you know
I'm not yours... you're all mine!

CAT EYES

Black cat, with eyes of gold
Nuggets, with which you behold
Mice, or men; or mites, or me;
Or whatever other things you see.

Miles sees it all, with studied stare,
From table-top or comfy chair.
He sees. Observes. He looks intent,
As if on this his fate was bent.

But should I seek to ascertain
What holds him so, with calm disdain
He swishes his tail, as if to say,
"Oh, Nothing," and he walks away;

Leaving me with mild unease,
And wishing he would only please
Show me on what his vision froze.
But he is already in repose,

Body stretched out in a patch of light
Conveying a vision that all is right
Peacefully asleep (or so I think)
Or did I just see an eyelid blink?

A CAT IN EVERY SPACE

I live a very simple life
With cats in every space
But when I go to bed at night
They sleep around my face.

Now to live without the luxury
Of cats in every space
Would be to live a sorry life
In a very sorry place.

I can never be without a cat
And this I can uphold
I'll have a cat in every space
Until I'm gray and old.

For every fool should be aware
That cats are complex creatures
They live about in every space
And give the house its features.

Now take my house away from me
And place me in a tent
I'll have a cat in every space
And still I'll be content.

I've had cats for many years
But now I live with only two
Desi and Miles are quite content
Living happily in Cattmandu.

~ LEO ~

Warm body, soft fur
Tickling my nose.
Heavy snores, loud purr
Filling my ears.
Claws like pinpoints on my skin,
Wanting me to lift the covers and let you in.

Hogging the pillow
Taking your half from my middle.
Such are my memories of you.
Now my bed is mine
Well, most of the time.
Desi and Miles try, but they're not to blame.
Without my Leo, it's not the same.

God, how I miss you!
To Rainbow Bridge you must have gone,
To wait for me when my life is done.
Play and be happy, joyful and free.
Climb every fence post, parked car and tree.

But, watch for me loved one,
For the time will come nigh,
When we'll run to each other
'Neath that glorious sky.
Then, we will become one forevermore
And pass complete through heaven's door.
