~15 followers of Jesus Christ, sent by Him from Kentucky, Mississippi and Tennessee in the U.S.A., organized by the Ron Herrod Evangelism Ministries Association.

How?

~By hearing and obeying God's Voice to take the Gospel to El Salvador

~By each member trusting our Heavenly Father to send the money to pay for their trip

~By preparing spiritually, mentally and physically

~By actually going...leaving home and family and the U.S.A. and GOING

~By DOING...putting all the praying and planning into action

How?

Personal evangelism was the MAIN THING...as each member of the team shared Christ one-on-one with the men, women, boys and girls they encountered in their different areas of ministry, and as they simply went from place to place.

I remember one team member who was usually the last one to leave a neighborhood or ministry site because he was always seeking to win someone to faith in Christ, right up to the last minute.

GOD SENT WONDERFUL TRANSLATORS TO BE THE VOICE AND EARS OF "THE AMERICANOS"... obviously they were one of the most essential ingredients to success of the mission.

God's key man in El Salvador for this mission was Pastor Mauricio Hernandez of the Mies Baptist Church in San Salvador, as he was the go-between for the Salvadorian and American team members. I am especially thankful to God allowing me to work so closely with one of His chosen ones. He spent long hours and days preparing the places and times and plans that had to be carried out in order The Lord's will regarding this mission be done.

Pastor Hernandez and his wife, Evelyn, worked very closely to make sure every detail was worked out.

The Lord used Mauricio to open doors for the team to preach and testify and minister in public schools, churches, and in the streets and homes of neighborhoods, some where gangs were in control.

We used the issue of abortion to talk about God's way of choosing life in these public schools. Also movies were used, sometimes shown in a community center, but often on the outside wall of a prominent building in the neighborhood. We would spend hours before going door-to-door inviting people to come to the movie, but always sharing the Gospel and seeking to win the lost to faith in Christ.
A Gospel invitation was always presented at the end of the events by one of our pastors on the team.

There was ALWAYS a harvest of souls...because Jesus SAID there would be..."the fields are white unto harvest."

What did the team do?

  • Pastors Clay Chancellor, Paul Badgett and Mark Martin gave strong Gospel invitations to gatherings in schools and in churches, neighborhoods
  • Will Bevins, Greg Cagle, Parker Tiller, Steve and Sherry Bundy, Amanda Hartsock and Natalie Chancellor gave of themselves in a variety of ministries to the beautiful, often hurting children. The children always were given an opportunity to respond spiritually to a simply-presented, easy-to-understand Gospel message.
  • Tom Hartsock and Earl Holbrook played Kentucky bluegrass on the mandolin and guitar, and Greg Cagle, Rusty Rowe, Parker Tiller, Steve and Sherry Bundy, Clay Chancellor and Mark Martin sang backup vocals
  • Greg Cagle directed the team in a drama/pantomine of The Passion of The Christ, complete with costumes and background music from the movie. MANY gave their public profession of Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour as a result of this awesome drama.
  • Paul Badgett, Clay Chancellor, Larry Keene and Mark Martin preached in different churches
  • Douglas Bailey, Parker Tiller, Rusty Rowe, Natalie Chancellor, Tom Hartsock, Earl Holbrook, Greg Cagle, Amanda Hartsock, Will Bevins...the whole team gave testimonies in churches as opportunities presented themselves in the different ministry situations
  • Greg Cagle led in praise and worship in the services of the Mies Baptist Church
  • Amanda Hartsock and Greg Cagle presented a musical pantomine to a gathering of men, and Tom Hartsock was the featured speaker to that group at the Mies Baptist Church
  • The whole team were EACH involved in one-on-one sharing of the good news on the streets, in homes, and wherever the opportunities presented themselves
  • Paul Badgett of First Baptist Church, Pikeville, Kentucky and Pastor Clay Chancellor of Russell Baptist Church were great leaders in ministering to the local pastors, translators and other Salvadorians involved in this mission. Their wisdom and experience and help to me were priceless.

Just before leaving the neighborhoods at night, the children's team would manage the distribution of the many gifts sent from the U.S.A. to the children who had gathered for the movie, games and telling of the love of Jesus.
Some of the most moving memories any of the team members have are of the faces of the little ones as they received the presents and toys and stuffed animals Jesus had sent them through people in the States.

God's Word in their own language

Thousands of copies of Spanish Bibles, New Testaments and Gospel tracts were distributed as we went through the cities and the countryside, preaching Jesus Christ to the individuals of El Salvador.

Jesus said, "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My WORD shall never pass away."
