First UAW GM Contact Agreement, UAW Local Unions celebrate February 11 1937 on White Shirt Day. Workers wear white shirts to work on Feb. 11 of every year in memory of the Great Flint Sit-down Strike.


February 11 1937. Workers celebrating victory around calendar they checked off each day in the shop during the sit-down.

Flint Sit-down Striker Ralph Lockhart is shown at top left with his right hand extended upwards, next to man in corner with a hat. In 2006, and in his 90's, he and his wife Mildred, who was a member of the Women's Emergency Brigade during the strike, are still standing up for the UAW as proud UAW members.
