To: the powers that be in the media and elsewhere
We, the undersigned, feel that Michael Bolton deserves plenty of accolades for all his professional and charitable works. Several honors have been bestowed upon him already (Grammy Awards, American Music Awards, Millionairs, Platinum rankings, Lewis Hine Award, at least one hospital wing in his name, "Michael Bolton Day" in New Haven, etc.); however, there are a few that need to be deservedly added:
a place on the RockWalk
an induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame (His first recording contract, for a single, came in 1968. His first album was realeased in 1975. BOTH cross the the qualification criteria. He would be currently eligible as a singer and a songwriter; he becomes eligible as a producer in 2008.)
a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame
more Grammys
more American Music Awards
more Platinum albums
more Gold singles
more Diamond rankings (he has one)
a place in the Halftime Show at the Super Bowl
more #1 hits--albums and singles
more airplay (definitely more airplay)
an apology by the press for their treatment of him (especially of his charity work)
a place in the Opening Ceremonies at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, Utah
more airplay on VH1
more artists performing his vast array of material
more exposure for "Love Shouldn't Hurt", the album for Prevent Child Abuse America--maybe even a new volume (almost no one played the music, and too many children DIE from abuse for it NOT to be heard)
more pairing with the greats
There are plenty of things left in this performer's "to do" list, and it is about time some of these were checked off the list.
