Monarch Butterfly Release on May 23, 2009

The Monarch Butterfly Release scheduled for Saturday, May 23 was canceled due to cold, cloudy, rainy weather. The release has been re-scheduled for Sunday, May 24th at 1 pm, weather permitting. If the weather is again cold and cloudy, the release will be re-scheduled for Monday, may 25 th at 1 pm ( warmer weather permitting.
The Butterfly Zoo, at 409 Bulgarmarsh Rd, Tiverton, Rhode Island will stage a live Monarch Butterfly release (live Monarch butterflies will be released into the wild ) to celebrate Memorial Day AND to celebrate The Butterfly Zoo's 15 th summer of exhibiting living butterflies from the tropical rainforests of the world . Our opening day for the summer of 2009 is Saturday, May 23., The monarch release will take place on May 23, 2009 at 1 pm. The release is open to the public free of charge.. In case of rain or cold , cloudy weather, the release will be postponed until Sunday, May 24 th at 1 pm. If in doubt because of the weather, please check this webspace the morning of the release. There is no charge to participate in the release. --- BRING your digital or movie camera ! ATTENTION PLEASE : For most of June, July and Aug 2009 , due to technical difficulties, our normal email butterflyzoo@webtv.net will not be operational. That email will return to normal usage approx 7 Sept 2009. Sorry for any inconvience. Thank you

The Female of this species is the world's largest butterfly, sometimes reaching over 12 inches across. It is found only in Popondetta, New Guinea and is considered an endangered species.
