Common "Proofs" of God

I'm a Freethinker and as such I see no evidence to support belief in a 'God' as "Supreme Being"

Please note I did not say a God or Gods don't exist but strongly assert, after a lifetime of reading, research and introspection, that no factual evidence exists to support the belief in God, as a Supreme Being, variously named Yaweh, Jehova, Elohim, Allah, El Adonai, Vishnu, Zeus, or God only knows how many other names. The many so called "proofs" of Gods existence fall far short when subjected to the light of a reasonable unbiased examination. Some of the most common 'proofs' of God's existence are:

The Argument of a First Cause wherein it is asserted that 'Everything that exists has a cause. The Universe exists therefore it must have a cause. God is that cause, the First Cause, the unmoved mover, the creator and sustainer of the universe.'

- If indeed, "everything that exists had a cause" then God must have also had a cause If God needed no 'cause', then it's just as reasonable to assume the cosmic universe also required no 'cause', it could be eternal existent, therefor uncaused. Beyond that, if God needed no 'cause' then the initial assertion that "Everything had a cause" is invalid, therefore the initial proposition is invalid.

Pascal's Wager asserts that "God can't be proved. But if God exists, the believer gains everything (heaven) and the unbeliever loses everything (hell). If God doesn't exist, the believer and unbeliever alike lose nothing. So it is better to make the safest choice abd believe where there is everythingto believe and nothing to lose.

- This is not arguement for the exstence of God, in fact it is self-adimiited proof that God's existence cannot be proven. This is an argument to "believe" in God, further presuming the existence of heaven and hell, which is also unproven. In fact in believing the 'believer' does lose something, rather than rejecting false emotional fears otherwise incompatable with his his own logical thought, he continues a superstitious self-delusion, a reliance on 'holy intervention' opposed to logical self-direction and compromises the fidelity and unity of his own thoughts and convictions. On the other hand, should the 'unbeliever' attempt to become a 'believer' he must do so in false opposition to his own logical thinking, in effect lie to himself, thereby compromising his own reasoned convictions at a lose of self-integrity.

St. Anselm's Ontological Argument where it is asserted that "We have concept of a Perfect Being where none can be conceived of as more Perfect. He exists otherwise He would not be Perfect. Because no one more perfect than God can be conceived, God exists

- Huh ? This arguement is based on the false assumption that everything of which we can conceive exists in Reality. In the real world we can conceive flying horses, magic wands, and any number of imaginable things that do not exist. This 'argument' is just another example of metaphysical double-talk. In the words of a modern writer, "If you can't dazze them with footwork, bury them in bullshit."

Argument from Religious Experience, Revelation or Miracles states asserts 'Many normal reliable and trustworthy people report having a variety of religious experiences such as, revelations, visions, miracles, etc. God is the ultimate object of all these experiences. Thereore God exists.'

- Simply put,"God exists because the Bible (or Koran or another religious text) tells me so." It is proven, by overwhelming evidence, that the bible is rampant in error, contradiction, subject to any imaginable interpretation, hardly the bulwark of reliable, trustworthiness conjectured here. Even if it were "reliable" such testimonies therein of relelations, visions and miracles are just reports of how these events appeared to them at the time. These could simply and naturally be dreams, dilusions, mirages, or occurances experienced by mental illness. Even so, none are revelations or visions as they could only be "revealed" or shown to the first person(s), becoming mere hearsay when passed on to another, just stories passed on through generations and no more reliable than ancient pagan myths or fairy tales, passed on in the same manner.
