HUBER BRANCH II
Jacob and Catharine (Shedenhelm) Huber and their three children migrated to Iowa Co. Iowa in 1868 as part of the Six Families - Rosenberger, Shedenhelm, Slaymaker, Mouser, Shaull and Rumple. The Six Families had previously migrated together within the United States after arriving to the colonies prior to the American Revolution. They migrated from Frederick Co. Maryland to Seneca Co. Ohio in the late 18th century, and then to Iowa Co. Iowa in the late 19th century. Descendents of the Six Families have a reunion in Marengo, Iowa Co. Iowa the first Sunday of June, annually.
Jacob Huber died 2/23/1869 of diptheria shortly after arriving in Iowa.
Jacob and Catherine Huber's three children:
1 - Marcena "Sena" married Charles Umbarger and moved to Michigan.
2 - Clarence and Evelyn (Schoenborn) Huber had one son;
-- Charles Russell "Russ" Huber b. 5/8/1901 Iowa Co. Iowa, d. 2/8/1983 College, Alaska; m. 8/14/1926 to Thelma Lydia Walker, b. 1905 d. 1945; 2nd wife Peggy ?, b. 1920(?) Detroit MI, m. 1953 in Fairbanks, Alaska.
3 - Oliver and Helena "Lena" (Thissen) Huber had two children, migrating with them to Kossuth Co. Iowa in 1909 (Oliver owned and operated a restaurant and oyster bar in Marengo Iowa Co. Iowa in the late 1890's and early 1900's):
-- Catherine "Norine" b. 8/17/1900 Iowa Co. Iowa, d. 8/17/1991 California; m. Maximus "Max" H. Studer, b. 3/12/1898 d. 1/13/1953 Cerro Gorda Co. Iowa; 2nd m. Alphonse "Alf" Lewis Studer (Max's brother).
-- Eugene "Steve" Monroe b. 6/17/1897 Iowa Co. Iowa d. 11/10/1984 Kossuth Co. Iowa; m. 6/6/1928 to Helen Gertrude Froehlich b. 3/17/07 McLean Co. Illinois.
