HUBER BRANCH IV (Alaska Hubers)
Charles Russell Huber met Thelma at the University of Iowa where he earned a degree in engineering and Thelma a nursing degree.

They married in 1926 and moved to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin  where "Russ" was a teacher at Ripon College and where Leo Kay and Donn Arlen were born.  In 1929 Russ joined the new College of Mines and Sciences (now University of Alaska) in Fairbanks, Alaska where Keith A. was born in 1933. Russ taught Engineering and Thelma
worked as a nurse in a Catholic Hospital.

During  WWII Russ went on active duty with the Army and was assigned to secretly build airfields in the Aleutian Islands.  Thelma and the boys remained in Fairbanks where she developed stomach cancer.

At the end of WWII (1945) Russ took Thelma to the Mayo Clinic in New York for treatment, which was unsuccessful. Thelma died and Russ enrolled his three sons, Kay 18 yrs., Donn 15 yrs., and Keith 11yrs. in Peekskill Military Academy in NY, where they remained there until graduating from high school; Kay also attended and graduated from West Point Army Academy. 

Donn did his freshman year at Columbia University and then returned to Fairbanks AL to live with Russ and graduate from the Univ. of AL. 

Russ temporarily left Alaska and attended the University of Colorado earning his Masters in Engineering; where he met Peggy, who was getting her Masters in Nursing.  Peggy was from Detroit MI and had been a MASH nurse during WWII - Phillipines, Germany and Italy.  Russ and Peggy returned to Fairbanks AL and married in 1953. 

Both Russ and Peggy were active in Alaska Boys State and Alaska Girls State (which Peggy founded in 1967), and in the American Legion and Auxiliary.

Charles Russell "Russ" Huber died in 1983. Peggy maintains her home between Sun City AZ and Fairbanks AL (as of January 2005).

2 - Donn, b. 1929 Fond du Lac WI m. Constance 1951, Fairbanks, Alaska, d. August 2006. Four children of Donn and Connie Huber, and mid-1980 locations:
-- Wendy, b. 1953 Fairbanks AL. Seattle, Washington.
-- Tim, Yakima, Washington.
-- Ronald, Seattle, Washington.
-- Merrie, Seattle, Washington.

3 - Keith A., b. 1933 Fairbanks AL m. Ingeborg (Keith was killed in an airplane crash, along with his eldest son, Jeffrey, in 1976. Keith's widow, Ingeborg and twin sons, Curt and Craig Huber, remained in Saratoga, California.
