Laurel Cemetery was founded in 1863 by Laurel Lodge I.O.O.F.-191 in Madisonville,Cincinnati,Hamilton County,Ohio.It is at: 5915 Roe St. Cincinnati,OH 45227 at the corner of Whetsel Ave. Telephone number is 513-563-6582 This is still an active cemetery,and these are only the graves marked with military markers or private markers with military information on them.This is as of June 26,2004.I did find 1 War of 1812 Veteran,25 upright Civil War Veteran marker's,and 4 Spanish America War Veteran's in this cemetery.If you have a Veteran in this cemetery with no Veteran information on his or her marker,Please let me know so I can add them to this list.I also found one marker that was not a military marker but had this information on it: "Born in Dundee Scottland Mar 7,1830 Came to America 1852 Served in Civil War as Fife Major died Oct,23,1904" There is no name on this. Over the years the goverment has changed the marker's that are used on Veteran's graves,along with the amount of information that is on the markers.The Civil War and some Spanish-American War markers are upright marble with a shield shape around the inscription,these normally only have name,rank and unit on them. The more recent markers of marble,granite or bronze usually have first name,middle inital,last name.Rank & branch of Service any war they served in and any medals they got.Their birth date and death date.In a format like this: JOHN Q.
