SHIFTING GEARS a DEDICATION

TO ROBERT WALTERS aka BOBBY TRIUMPH

Bobby Triumph, Sister Nancy, Wife Mary, Laconia Bikeweek, mid 80's

I wish to dedicate this book to Bob Walters, aka Bobby Triumph, a Friend and a Running Mate for nearly 30 years. We could fill an entire book with Bobby Triumph Stories and perhaps one day we will. He spent his younger days riding down the black top, his hands wrapped around the handle bars, his butt on the seat and usually his lady behind him. In his later days, he spent his time working on his 1963 Plymouth Valient Four-door or was on his way to, or at a Car Show / Cruise Night.

He was an important part of my road life and writing life, right to the last ... for whenever I finished a Column Shifts column, the first thing I would do is call him up and read it to him and we would discuss the story line and swap memories and thoughts.

I have also dedicated the poem ( IN HEAVEN ) to his memory and in honor of the duel citizenship, I feel that he held in both, the Auto World and The Motorcycle World.

But in truth, it seems so little to give for all that he gave.

In closing, all I can say is ... " May these pages and this poem, ( IN HEAVEN ) carry his memory well, as our hearts and memories always will."

So, from your Brothers and Sisters in the Wind and on the Road ... "Thank you Bobby for all that you gave," ... Peddlar.
