BEHAVIORISM: A CULTURE OF DEATH

The following pictures have been chosen for their elucidation of the uniquely human experience of deep emotional torment caused by totalitarian physical and emotional abuse. These pictures illustrate clearly what our children have been subjected to in the name of behaviorism. The first picture, "Dante's Inferno" I personally dedicate to the APA credentialed, ASA endorsed criminals who brutalized my gentle 4 yr. old son in the name of behavioral early intervention (ABA) and left him with a tormenting post-traumatic stress disorder. There are some in the "scientific" and "treatment" community who are operating beyond the bounds of ethics or morality. CIBRA asserts that parents whose children have been victimized by ABA, restraint and aversives have a mandate to speak out together to save other children and families from this same kind of unspeakable victimization. Deadly Restraint

Restraint inflicting pain and punishment to gain compliance

 

Tribute to the Faces by Michael O'Reilly (reprinted from the Communicator--Autism National Committee)

I look at the faces into pupils of eyes so kind: Your pain in that moment when they compressed your body--belly on the cold floor lungs tired exhausted by the weight of uneducated staff---assuming it was best to diminish you to sacrifice the core of your humanity for the sake of control-----to justify your imprisonment------would it have been different had your spirit been nourished and your mind acknowledged as real and yearning----putting into their heads that you had something to say about your own life? -------You died to embrace the humanity---tortured loneliness------And I look at your pictures---faces, noses, mouths parted to speak of who you are----but no words came-----And they did not know you---------------------I think of those moments ---those moments when no breath came----Restrained. Restraint. ---------------All you were trying to convey was your unhappiness----------To be heard-------How long had you listened to them telling you your every move---deciding for you how you toothbrush, your schedule, your life should be? -------Restrained. Restraint. ------Did they ever think that you saw through their ignorance? ---------with those eyes-----those eyes----those eyes----------------in the pictures I think of you everyday.

TO THE ABA HYPOCRITES:

You can't teach non-aggression with aggression-----You can't teach "appropriate behavior" with inappropriate behavior----You can't teach gentleness with brutality----You can't teach trust with treachery---You can't teach calm with terror-ism----You can't convince a child to embrace the world when the world you show them is evil----You can't teach love with emotional rape----You can't teach trust and safety by injuring----You can't teach obedience to limits with disobedience to a child's limits----You can't teach respect with disrespect----You can't nurture emotional growth with emotional rejection----You can't teach inner strength and control with social tyranny---You can't teach initiative with a ball and chain----You can't allow for growth and self-hood when self-inihilation is your goal----You can't call imprisonment of self "healthy"----You can't call self-impoverishment "recovery"----You can't teach patience by destroying hope---You can't allay anxiety by destroying safety----You can't teach a child social justice with social injustice----You can't teach "normal socialization" with methods of sociopathy---You can't claim an interest in a child developing an "awareness of anothers perspective" while brutally ignoring a child's cry for help...teaching them how to be blind and deaf to the other's perspective----You can't teach "give and take" with no give----You can't teach unselfishness with total selfishness----You can't teach charity and sharing with the penny pinching greed of "reinforcers"----You can't teach flexiblity with rigidity-----You can't teach creativity with overcontrol----You can't teach happiness with pain and cruelty----You can't teach hope while destroying faith----You can't teach a child not to inflict wound to his body by inflicting wounds to his body---You can't teach a child not to attack others by attacking him----You can't teach "cause and effect" by provoking a child to anger and then blaming him----You can't teach a child that rewards nd praise are a good thing while you demonstrate how you can and will hurt him/her with them----You can't teach emotional connectedness through emotional abandonment----You can't teach a child self-confidence and self-esteem while demanding he surrender his own judgement----You can't impart to a child basic trust in himself when acceptance is conditional on performance----You can't teach generosity with deprivation----You can't allow a child's will to emerge since his healthy "no!" threatens your fragile penal system----You'll never be able to allow a disabled child's "I" since the "you" of compliance slavery is all-----You can't teach "intelligence" with STUPIDITY.........To quote a wise philosopher---"common people aren't guilty of this kind of error. It takes a PH.D to create REAL STUPIDITIES!'

 

 

Wild Animal (Reprinted with permission)

There is a force field holding me here keeping me alive---I can't control it, I can't change it. I'm stuck. ---Caged like a wild animal. Raised in captivity. Fear to reveal true self; it is too wild for these people. Conformity---must act as human, must act "normal." As a normal human being. Cannot be free. ---I am wild, Why do you hold me in this restraint. Why can I not be out, Why must I stay caged? Can I not be turned loose... Even for a few moments? Why must I be trapped?----I will not not harm you, I'm no threat. ------What have you done? You've made it so I can't even kill myself; cannot control my survival; Cannot terminate this hell. You've made it so I can't even end my existence. I must succumb to your demands. I must comply; you will torture if I do not. I will exist forever since I cannot possibly allow this body to give out. It will always function. There is no escape. Why must I be restrained? Why can I not be free---loose from these bonds? ------I'm no danger; I pose no threat to your existence; why must you fear me? I'm not harmful, I just want to be my own being; control my own existence.------------Can't you see there is nothing but terror, fear, anger and hatred? This will not make me thing any more of you, all it spawns is hatred. You will not let me live on my own. You must control me, cage me. restrain me. -------Can't you see? This is me, Restrained by a force field frustrated, terror helpless hopeless. A guinea pig. A science experiment. Why can I not be free? I bring no harm to you , I'm nothing to you. You're destroying me. Why do you need me? What do you hope to gain by it? My destruction? See just how far you can go? How far the human can be tortured cønfined, tormented till it overloads and destructs. What the hell do you want? Or think you must have? You wish to destruct all that which you fear, until you achieve your desired result. What if it isn't there? What if you keep subtracting. Until there's nothing left? Then what will you do, find another creature to torture? to continue on? What if you knew that all you've achieved on this monkey was all superficial? If you knew you've had no effect except for creating a living hell. It'll never ends. You've created a toy, now what? So what if you thought...your intentions were to improve the life of your being? You know destroy, and you know replace, but replace with what? And you don't replace completely either. You leave an empty hollow....And some remaining original material behind.

 

You cannot improve by destruction. All you achieve is emptiness half missing, half gone. You rip away half the test subject, What do you expect to have left? What you have is half a being. What good is half a being with no life in it? A shell with no inside. A thick outer shell, but no...interest, no life. You have destroyed all that is human. You have nothing left but a mechanical being. But you don't know that, All you see is the superficial; What do you want to see? What do you think you've achieved. What you wish you've achieved. What you demand to have achieved. Unstability is deadly destructive. Why destroy? If you do not wish to destroy, then why are you so destructive? Why rip, tear away protection? Why shred, destroy if you want to keep alive?

 

Backward. You destroy, rip away all that holds us together. How can you expect us to live when you destroy essential core elements of the beings. How can you expect life? No being can live without a basis for life, with nothing stable, no bottom ground. Why destroy so much if you wish us to live? How can improve equal destruct? Why survive? Why try? It's not going to fail anyway. It'll always be there. What try so hard? Nothing else to do. Afraid to stand still----Yelled at for not doing anything, commanded to do some task.

 

DISAPPEAR.
