RIO LIVES ON!!!!!!! When Jems run was over and Maxie took up the Hasbro fashion doll role , "She" was a complete and new doll , Her boyfriend however had a history........ Rob 1's head mold isnt the only thing Hasbro recycled from Jem's world .

Rob borrowed his body also.... From Rio (well , most of it) A few alterations were done , But when Rio became Rob several things stayed the same First his legs , they are completly the same mold right down to the holes in the feet (which you can see in the next picture )

Next , his lower torso is exactly the same as well both in the front and back. His upper Torso is definitely the same mold as you can see starting from the still jointed neck down to his navel (hes the same in back as well) but from the naval down is where the modifications start, The first is obvious , his waist no longer turns making his torso one solid piece, the second you need to look closer..the poor boy has been hacked down between his navel and the top line of his molded briefs making him approximately 1/4 inch shorter!

1989 ROB 2 For Maxies second year when Rob was revamped more changes followed , but alot stayed the same Someone noticed Pranceatrons observations it seems , that Robs 20 something appearance made him look more like a grad school pervert than a 16-ish year old Football Captain.so a "helmet haired' younger looing solid rubber head was substituted to a chopped down neck . Also noticed was the fact that the quarter inch chopped from his waist made his middle thick and sort of chubby looking so some liposuction was in order , resulting in a shaplier more defined V-shape resculpture to hs waist The picture below is Rob 2 (Thanks to Froglouer18 for her scan...Thanks Sarah!) (I don't own this doll to do side by side comparisons but the picture similiarities between him and the NKOTB show a strong likeness to eachother so Im jumping ahead to NKOTB details with the assumption that Rob 2 shares them )

1990 New Kids On The Block For Hasbros next fashion doll venture there wasn't a girl doll in sight . The New Kids on the Block were the N*SYNC of the 80's and just as scary! They made mae fashion doll history by being the first to come with jewelery , They all wore rings on one hand and most had at least one earring. Following the Hasbro tradition they borrowed their bodies from Rob 2 When Rob 1 morphed into the NKOTB a few more subtle changes occured but some stayed the same Starting with his legs and lower torso which again are the exact same mold as Rios. His upper torso changed slightly again His neck was the biggest diiference another 1/4 of an inch or so was chopped off the top of his neck it was thickened very slightly and changed from the jointed pivot and turn style to the left to right only style . His chest is exactly the same with one exception a deeper hollow was added to the collarbone just above the pecs From the pecs to the brief line still measures the same distance but is resculptured .He has more defnition in his abs and along the sides is trimmer giving him more of a V shape . his waist was again solid and doesnt turn

Each verion had completely different arms Rios being the only fully jointed . Rob 1 arms are soiid frm fingers to shoulder , jointed at the shoulder with the pivot and turn type joint,they are hard rubber more like what is used in the heads rather than the more flexible leg rubber lke Rios The arms are close to same length, but, just a bit shorter than Rios

Rob 1 arms are more defined ,slightly more muscular, but look a lot like Rios . the joint line on his shoulder is curiously higher than Rios its almost completely covered by where it joins the torso. Rob 1 left hand shows some similarities to Rios left hand but looks more like a new sculpture his right hand is completely different they both have shorter fingers but overall are much more fuller or meaty for some reason

The NKOTB/Rob 2 style arms are different again theres no real similarities to Rob 1 the arms are once again unjointed and the solid hard rubber, they are still defined but thinner and jointed at the shoulder lin the same style as Rob 1 and Rios , the shoulder joint line is more like Rios though rather than Robs higher version . His hands are slimmer than Rob 1 more like Rios in fact his right hand is Rios ! the same mold with only one minor change his fingers are slightly shorter (and doesnt have the joint obviously)

I used NKOTB Joe in my pics because Leon mentioned him in his observations my original pics used NKOTB Donny (But all 5 New Kids use the same mold)
