"DEMYTHOLOGISING THE GOLDEN LEGEND" (without permission)

[As reported by Father Brian Harrison, Doctor of Sacred Theology, Society of the Oblates of Wisdom in the theological journal "Faith and Reason" in the Spring of 97, and the "Keep the Faith" Conference in the winter of 97]

Father Harrison's writings on sacred theology have won praise from Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger.

The title of Father Harrison's historical treatise refers to the genesis of disident, rationalistic biblical scholarship, (the "critical method" of biblical analysis) which currently controls too many Catholic Universitys and seminarys in the West.
Father Harrison makes clear the inaccuracy of the basis to the critical method, and the strange flip flops of men such as Cardinal Bayer, who as a priest was confidant and confessor to Pius XII.

Many of us are convinced, the events revealed in Father Harrison's documented investigation moves the reader to understand the widespread deconstruction of Christianity, while watering down Roman Catholicism by attacks on Church Liturgy and Architecture.

If there is a single source for this development, it is the radical Protestant existentialist and biblical exegete (expert), Rudolph Boltman, who came to us out of the 1920's, when Stalinist forces were converting intellectuals to the "big lie". (personal observation)

Father Harrison speculates that Our Lady of Fatima may have asked that Her third message be made known in 1960, because the documented events he reveals, make it readily understandable to decypher and comprehend the threat to Christianity and the world. Our Lady of Fatima stated: "The problem in question would become clearer by then".

[John Paul II's recent beatification of two of the visionaries (one still living) gives sound credibility to the visions. Also the contents of the "third secret" were revealed in 2001.]

Father Brian Harrison's background is ecumenical and brilliant.
Baptised a Methodist, brought up a Presbyterian in a Anglican school. Father Harrison was working for the Lutheran Mission in New Guinea, when he converted to Catholicism in 1972.

Brian Harrison, a Australian, was ordained a Catholic priest by John Paul II in 1985. His Doctorate of Sacred Theology was earned summa cum laude on the thesis: "The Teaching of Paul VI on the Sacred Sciptures with special emphasis to the Historicity of the Gospels."

The core aspects of Father Harrison's investigation follows:

He makes clear that sometimes the scholar has to search footnotes and Magesterium approved addendums to the Vatican II volumes to be sure Christianity held. The entire volumes of Vatican II are so enormous that all of it has not been translated from the Latin to the English. However, this writer can affirm the following quote from the "Flannery" edition, which many Americans use as a resource.

"The gospels always (semper) tell us the honest truth about Jesus, faithfully reporting what he really did and said for our salvation until the day he was taken up. (Ascension)" VATICAN II, DEI VERBUM (The Word of God)

Previous to Vatican II, in the midst of the citadel, the attack on 'biblical inerrancy' was launched by Father Luis Alonzo Scherkel (a Spanish Jesuit) of the Pontifical Biblical Institute. In a editorial published in "La Civita Catolica" of Sep 3, 1958, the "critical method" was publicly launched into Catholicism.

On that date, Scherkle, with assistance from Jesuit professors Maximillian Zerwich and Jean Lavi came out of their hidden game plan in order to inflict doubts into the hearts of future generations of clergy, nuns and parishioners.

This was accomplished by claiming that Leo XIII, AND Pius XII encouraged a scientific biblical scholarship that pointed toward Scherkel's prophesy of the critical method's dominance and its revolutionary anlaysis of scripture as mythology.

Luis Alonzo Scherkle wrote: "Pius XII was very conscious of opening a new and wide door thru which many novelties would be entering the precincts of Catholic exegesis.(biblical experts) Novelties, which would have surprised excessively conservative minds." This was a deceitful statement.

It needs to be noted that there were two sentences in Pius XII's writings that were aimed at a pamphlet authored by an Italian priest named Father Roto, who claimed the extreme view that the Latin Vulgate edition of scripture was the only authentic translation that could be used in biblical studies, and could not be improved.

In 1941, Father Roto and his pamphlet had raised problems for bible scholars and the laity in Italy. Pius XII desired to free Catholics from this extreme statement by Fr. Roto who had circulated his pamphlet throughout Italy.

Too often we have found progressives capable of gross distortons in the pursuit of their goals. Why successive generations of scholars like Father Raymond Brown deceived themselves with nonsense is a ongoing saga.

A Roman guardian of biblical orthodoxy rose to warn us in the person of Monseigneur Antonio Romero. He was a scripture scholar and official for the Sacred Congregation for Seminarys and Universitys.

Romero, in an eloquent, indignant reply, dated Dec. 1960, as published in the theological journal "Devinitas" of the Pontifical Lateran University, showed how flimsy was Scherkel's editorial. In a 89 page repudiation, he defended 1900 years of Christianity and the Roman Catholic Popes support of biblical inerrancy, during that history.

The progressive nascent liberal resurgence sidestepped his scholarly work, and did not address his argument. Instead, their response/attack centered on one paragraph of Mons. Romero's defense of Christianity.

Using the propagandists tool of "fundamentalist right wing conspiracy", and the charge of "calumny", the progressives nullified a hero's warning, and Mons. Romero was eventually left to his "white martyrdom".

Popes, Cardinals, Bishops, scholars, and the laity were hoodwinked.

The paragraph Mons. Romero wrote that destroyed his career reads clear and true, but too often the truth is a victim:

"In Rome and throughout the world, there is a whole hive of ceaseless activity on the part of termites toiling away feverishly in the darkness. This compels us to intuit the active presence of a COMPLETE PLAN OF TRICKERY bent on disintegrating those doctrines, which form and nourish the Catholic Faith. An ever increasing number of "straws in the wind" coming from various quarters bears witness to the gradual unfolding of a broad and progressive plan of MANIPULATION under the extremely capable leadership of seemingly devout men calcuated to uproot Christianity as it has been known and lived for 19 centuries in order to replace it by a christianity of the new age."
