The Cumon Baby 15A was built in 1953 by Frank Neely. Driver Duane Allen set the Mile Record with a Ford V8/60 engine @101.254 mph the same year and was the second boat to achieve over 100 mph in the 135 cu in class. In November of 1966, Cumon Baby with Wayne Thompson as owner/driver set the Kilo Record in the 150 cu in class @ 111.962 mph, powered by a Ford Falcon 144 cu.in engine. The 5 Mile Competition Record on a 1²/³ mile course was set in 1967 @ 80.717 mph.
In 1956, 1958 , 1959 and 1961 Jack Salmon won the APBA Nationals for owner Frank Neely. Later, with Wayne Thompson as owner driver, Cumon Baby was the APBA National Champion for the year, 1966.
I purchased the boat in 1970 and raced it 2 years in the 2.5L Mod Class and retired it.
Presently, I have returned to racing in 2003 in the 2.5L Stock class with a newer Pigeon/Bergeron prototype hull named S 43 Cumon Baby with plans to race in the 2.5L Mod class in 2004.
