Why I Love Joan Davis! I created this webpage out of an almost complete lack of either a fan-site or any general information about the talented Joan Davis, either on the web or in any other media. It is my hope to stir up some interest in an entertainer who has held a place in my heart though she died before I was even born! Any fan of Lucille Ball or "Laverne and Shirley" must appreciate the enormous talent and unsurpassed physical comedy that Joan Davis achieved in her years as the star of "I Married Joan"!

Welcome to my fan page dedicated to Joan Davis! Although a popular performer throughout several decades, vaudeville, movies in the 30's and 40's, her hit sitcom in the 50's, there is very little out in cyber-space about Joan Davis. She starred alongside Rudy Vallee, Abbott and Costello, Jim Backus, Eddie Cantor, Jack Haley, Shirley Temple and more, and is remembered best perhaps for "I Married Joan" (NBC 1952-55). Before her untimely death in 1961 at the age of 49 (2 years before I was born), Joan remarked, "I've been afraid all along that I just wouldn't be funny or pretty enough for the long-time big time. I've kept going on a mixture of gall, guts, and gumption." Her broad physical comedy and slapstick were no doubt carried on by that mixture, but with this webpage I would like to carry on the memory of the laughter she brought to so many people. What Lies Ahead..... I don't have a lot of time to devote to this fan-site as I work so hard on my own home page and I have trouble finding pictures and info on Joan. However, I have started working on a "one-man show" stage version of Joan's life and sitcom career, to be produced for the stage and starring myself!
