HOLIDAY SEASONS FOR PEOPLE IN RECOVERY

Hi my name is Jeff S. and I am an alcoholic in recovery. From personal experience, I can empathize with those new in recovery, and especially during the holiday's such as the ones coming up. Some of us , due to our alcoholism, have lost jobs, spouses and friends. During the holiday season, while seeing people being together, laughing and enjoying their lives, it seems fairly natural for an alcoholic to feel alone and not in touch with the humanity that surrounds them. This is not an excuse to relapse back into alcohol use, but rather a chance to be among other alcoholics in recovery and share their feelings. This is why AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) has had such a success rate since it was founded in 1939. People are able to gather together, to share there victories, and failings without ridicule. This has made AA a safe haven, where alcoholics newly sober, or "old timers" can feel a common bond and sense of being with family.

Don't you wish your life was like a waterfall, Sometimes life seems like a waterfall, flowing head first into a river of rough rapids and turmoil. but as we find out during our recovery, the waterfall can be a place of peace within ourselves, ever moving forward and surrounded by serenity.
