Echo & Delta Co 3rd/60th 9th Div WIA (wounded in action)

This page is an attempt to list those who were wounded in action. It will be almost impossible to get this complete as I do not believe there are any records on the wounded who were not hospitalized, but we will try. If you have any Purple Heart orders let me now the names. If you are aware of anyone missing from this list please e-mail me at DocMcClain@webtv.net

There are 198+ names on this list so far. Jim Toney is responsible for most of this list. He was able to get morning reports for the entire year he was in RVN and took the hospitalized names off the reports. Those who were not hospitalized will only appear on this list if you notify me about them.

The first section is chronological. The second list has no dates as yet.

Harold "Doc" Tooley lost his foot after being wounded on June 1, 1968. Bobby Little

Looking over your wounded list.some of the stuff I remember is the day Keston Williams was wia Randy Leigate was also. The day Doc Tooley was wounded there were several others maybe between 4 & 8 others Doc Tooley was last one to step on booby trap that day. The day John Greenough was wounded I think maybe Lt Wolf others from 2nd or 3rd plt was wounded I think a black guy called sidekick was shot under the nose that day I remember him walking around that day saying this mf got the milliondollar wound and is going home. The day Curtis Hofster was wounded Auggie was also wounded, you are showing him a day after Curtis was wounded. Maybe that's because he didn't show up at the hospital. Also, the day Ludwig and I got wounded I think there were a few others wounded that day. The week before Ludwig and I were wounded there were some people from the third platoon that were also wounded. Do you remember the new company commander around the last of August until the 3rd or 4th of september. He was wounded by booby trap in the stomach area. John Hughes

List of WIA`s with no date

Lee Gamberdela and Joe Barbosa. Doc Schmidt ?hit by a mine. ?triple amputee.

"Big John" Grinough shot in arm on V.C. Island, ?Lt Wolf, Sidekick, and several others from the 2nd and 3rd platoon may have all been wounded on the same day.
