The mission of ACTA was to orient new arrival to Korea about the DMZ, to improve and refresh there patroling skills. The following pictures were taken within the DMZ during several patroling operation. However by rules and regulation cameras were not allowed within 2000 Meter zone, but GI"s will be GI's.
Most patrols that operated in DMZ were not allowed personal effect to be carryed with them, such as billfold, letters or anything that may reveal there personal life The only thing that was carried on you was military idea card, dog tags and a DMZ pass. Also each member of the patrol were required to a wear arm band that read DMZ Police.

This was one of the patrols that i took out . Each class cycle one of the instructor would draw the mission of taking a patrol out on the actual line, that seperate north from the south. We call WALK the LINE. The line was a 3 ft wide piece of ground that ran the full length of the DMZ or the 38th parallel. Just wide enough for two patrols to pass each other.

WALKING the LINE

A warning sign on the DMZ. Each of these sign were placed so that you would be able to see the next one weather it was 2 miles or 2 ft. The north side had the writing in Chinese and Korean. This is the front of the sign looking north. However some time during the monsoon season (rainy season) some of these signs may get washed out so you had to be very careful to know where you were at.
Guard Post (GP) Observation Post
Guard Post were within the 2000 meter
Observation Post were outside the 2000 meter zone. There were two OP's only, which were call Dort on the west end, mazie on the East end, of the dmz .

This was the highest GP in the DMZ you had to be a mountain goat or a mountain climber to get to it. Very few vehicle would try to go to it. Later on the Engineers did build a passable road to it.
