How to open PDF files

      What are PDF files?

PDF stands for: Portable Document Format. These files were created in another format, then translated into a PDF file so they can be viewed by anyone with the adobe PDF reader.

Unfortunately, MSNTV does not have the ability to read PDF files but, there are ways you can open them and view the contents. In this lesson you will learn how.

NOTE: Once you open the file to view it's contents using a tool page, you will have to copy it to save the information, or save the URL to view the contents again at another time. If you use the email method to open the file, you can just save the email to read it again later.

To open a PDF file in email:
    • Click on the link for the PDF file
    • After you get the pop up saying webtv can't view it, press your go to button
    • Next press "show last" and the URL will show in the block
    • Copy the URL, and paste it into the body of an email. Remember to remove your sig before you send the email.

For plain text, send the email with the PDF URL to this addy:
      pdf2txt@adobe.com

For html, send the email with the PDF URL to this addy:
      pdf2html@adobe.com

Within about a minute normally, you will get an email back with all the information that was in the PDF file.

Here is the link you can use to try it out.

If you prefer, you could use a tool page to open the PDF file. Follow the steps above to get the URL and take it to one of the links below.
