Let's get familiar with the page builder for MSNTV (WEBTV) and what it does. First from your MSNTV home page, click on Pagebuilder.
You will be taken to your pagebuilder index page. On the left you will see a sidebar with the following options: Create: If you click on Create, you will be taken to a section that will ask you to pick a background. After selecting a background you will be taken to a screen with the options you need to build your page.Scrapbook: Click on Scrapbook and you are taken directly to your scrapbook, which is where you store graphics to use on your web pages, or email.Clean-up: Click on clean up, and all the pages you have made will get a box to check beside them. Check the box beside a page you want deleted then click discard. When you have deleted all that you want to, click on index to return to the main index.Examples: Clicking on Examples will take you to four examples of page types you could make.Help: Clicking on help will take you to the MSN help screen.
Once you have a page created, and you click on it from your index, you will be taken to a page that has the following options:Change page: This is what you click on the edit your page.Change public listing: This allows you to set your page for public view or private.Un-publish page: does just as it says, it will unpublish the page from the WWW. (World Wide Web)Discard page: This is another way to discard an unwanted page.
At the top of this screen you will see the name, and URL of your page. You can click on it to go directly to view your page as it is on the web.
Creating
Click on create from your Index. Once you have chosen a background, you will be taken to a screen with the options you will use making a web page.
On the left will be a side bar with the following options:
Index: This would take you back to your index.Edit title: This is where you can title your page, or change the title. You can also check the box to not have the title displayed on your page, it would then only be seen in the status bar at the bottom of your screen.Preview: This lets you view what your page would look like on the web before you publish it. (It looks different than it does in page builder.)Publish: When you are done you click on this to publish your page and have it on the WWW.
At the top of the screen you will see two buttons. Add an item: This will bring up a screen with several options for building your web page. (See explanation below)Change page style: Clicking on this will take you back to where you could pick and change the back ground you have.
If you click on Add an item you come to a screen with the following options:Picture: Click on this and you will be taken to a screen asking if you want to get a picture from your scrapbook, msntv (webtv) art gallery, or video. The video is what you would click to upload an image from your video camera, or digital camera, to put into your scrapbook. Clicking on Scrapbook takes you to the images you have saved in your scrapbook. Msntv (webtv) art gallery takes you to their images you can use if you want.Add Text: This takes you to the screen that you need to add your codes in and create your page.Links: You can add up to 25 clickable links here by entering the URLs of sites you want listed, and the title of the site. You can also add sites from your favorite folders. Just click the button that says add from favorites and you will be taken to a screen showing all of the contents of your favorite folders to pick from.List: Here you would be making non-clickable list. You can list up to 25 items.Pagebreak: Use this feature to make a second page when you want. At the bottom of your page there will be a link to go to page two once the page is on the web.Heading: This option will allow you to put a heading on your page.
This is just the grass roots basics to explain what each button will do. There is more you will see and learn as you use the features, that I did not explain here but this will get you far enough to be able to use them. I hope it helps you feel more comfortable using pagebuilder.
Good luck and happy building!!
