MY PAINTINGS

Artist or Painter ?

I suppose I consider myself a painter rather than an artist. To my way of thinking an artist creates everything from his or her imagination, and the painter only paints what he sees.

I only paint what I'm looking at.I started painting along with the TV artists in 1988 I think. My first try was only OK,but each new painting I did was a little better than the last one.In 6 months to a year I was doing very good, and wanted to do more than just the mountains & trees & streams the guys on tv were doing.I decided I was going to paint animals in my landscapes.Like deer & eagles, and maybe even people.

I intended to put 5 or 6 paintings on this page. Well I stoped at 10, this way I won't have to rotate them as often. Let me know if you think this page is to long. I can pull some paintings off. Please let me know your opinion of this page, and my paintings.

"The Buck Stops"

I put this one first because it shows a typical TV artist landscape, I just placed a deer in it. I took the landscape from Bob Ross. I learned more from his TV show than anywhere else.

"Chickadees"

I found this landscape in an old Walter Foster 32Painting Lessons book. The artists for the book were Bela and Jan Bodo. The book was old enough to have a $1.00 price tag on it. I took the birds from a christmas card.

"Mt. Fuji"

I painted this one after a female TV artist by the name of Lynn Pittard. I know gender does not matter, but since most are male I felt I should mention it here.It is a monotone and close to her original.

"Desert Walk"

This picture I took from one of Bob Ross' books.I think it has a real desert feel to it.

"Cattleya Orchid"

I must have painted this one in 90' or 91' when we were in the orchid club.I had this great big plant and I just painted part of it.My wife likes it ,I think I need practice doing flowers.

"Roses"

A fun painting from a Gary Jenkins video tape. My mother liked it so much she asked me do one for her.I painted her this one and a different floral with the same colors for another wall in her place.

"Lone Loon"

My favorite artist,Robert Bateman, paints wildlife like nobody else can.He has done many Loon's. One was Canada's wedding gift to Charles & Diana.I did this loon from one of his books. If I had 10% of his talant this picture would be 100% better.

"Snowy Egret"

Living in New Jersey I get to see this scene every spring and summer when the marsh birds are here. Sometimes the meadows are dotted with dozens of them trying to find food. This one and the loon did not reproduce well.

"The Pride" -left side

This one I did in a 12"h by 36"w format so it will take two spaces to show it.The lions are from a Robert Bateman book. The background I just made up as I went.

"The Pride" -right side

I did one like this but smaller for one of my nephews. If you don't compare them to the originals by Bateman these lions are pretty good.
