Explanation of Purpose: "The re-enactment of the expedition ( AEQ-75 ) is not to be interpreted as the exaltation or glorification of any single individual, but rather, it is a living commemoration of the sacrifices, dedication, and patriotism of an army of citizen soldiers who sought to establish a new nation, free of tyranny and oppression. Additionally, it is not the intent of the AEQ-75 commemoration to be preceived as a "grand parade." A comprehensive review and understanding of the purpose which underlie AEQ-75 should dispel any such limited perspective." The primary purpose of AEQ-75 will be the promotion of: cultural heritage international relations community involvement historic identity for Maine and other States and a living history.
