Peter Huggins has played, collected, worked on, built, bought, sold, traded, maintained, fixed, broken, won, lost, given away, researched, and roadied guitars and amps for about 26 years now. Maybe I can help you out too.........e-mail me with your guitar-related questions, needs or want lists.
Thanks!
The label reads "GUADALUPE ACOSTA--608 W. Houston, Street SAN ANTONIO, 7, TEXAS"---Typed below is "January 1949" . Has anybody ever heard of this luthier? If so, please contact me!
I have owned this wonderful guitar for over 22 years now. The headstock was rebuilt by J.S.(Jim) LEMON and finished up some 20 years later by MICHAEL De TEMPLE. The original headstock was very similar to a violin headstock when I got the guitar, but it was cracked and re-pegged and split in several directions. Per my instructions Jim carved a new headstock in a design similar to a early 60's Burns guitar, which I belived was aestetically compatible while being stronger than the original design.
This guitar is BIG! same width as an Epiphone N.Y. Emperor (18-3/8")---sides and back of rosewood, top is spruce and cedar; all binding and purfling is hardwood.
